My role in this shoot was choosing the location of the photoshoot, on-site direction with the photographer, as well as coordination. I chose the Glamis San Dunes in California to match the theme of dessert beauty that’s present in the United Arab Emirates. The correlation with the themes of the dual cover, launched in March 2025 as “The Resilience Issue” with the visuals, showcase an Afghan American Durana Elmi.

A powerhouse of strength, resilience and determination, yet she retains a femininity we have long admired.

Elmi’s journey is a testament to the art of resilience – grace under pressure, strength in adversity, and an unwavering commitment to making a difference.
